Breeze up to Ditchling Beacon

Description: Take the 79 bus from Old Steine (Stop Z) to Ditchling Beacon and enjoy the spectacular views. Ditchling Beacon, the second highest point on the South Downs, was once an Iron Age hillfort which used the steep northern slope as a natural defence. As its name suggests, Ditchling Beacon was one of the chain of fires lit to warn of the Spanish Armada and other invasions. The area is managed by the National Trust and Sussex Wildlife Trust. Why not take the 79 bus to Ditchling Beacon, enjoy the walk down to Stanmer Park and take the 78 bus back? Further information can be found in our Stanmer & Ditchling Beacon leaflet: www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/downloads/bhcc/countryside/stanmer___ditchling.pdf

The 79 bus runs hourly every winter Sunday, plus Boxing Day, New Year's Day, Good Friday and Easter Monday (plus summer Saturdays in the summer). Visit our website for further information on all the Breeze bus services: www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/breezebuses
